ABOUT

The Dirty Vandals aren’t here to play it safe.

We take the songs people actually want to hear—rock, pop, country, hip-hop, and anything else that can light up a room—and turn them into one big, high-energy live experience. Big songs. Big production. Killer lights. Zero interest in standing politely in the corner while you eat your wings.

We don’t play genres. We play the party. No rules. Just a damn good time.

LET'S GET DIRTY!

🎤 THE DIRTY TRUTH: MIKE

A Completely Unreliable History

By day, Mike teaches at a private school, helping prepare young people for responsible adulthood.

By night, he attempts to reverse that work one audience member at a time.

Mike is a cross between Loki and the devil on your shoulder—assuming the devil has already punched the angel unconscious and stolen his microphone.

His purpose is simple:

To stand at the front of a stage, command the attention of everyone in the room and convince otherwise respectable adults to make decisions they would have questioned earlier in the evening.

His greatest weapon is direct eye contact.

Mike lives to find the person hiding near the back, staring at their phone and desperately hoping not to become part of the performance.

They always become part of the performance.

He is currently prohibited from making direct eye contact with audiences in three counties without a licensed official present.

During one show, Mike convinced a woman celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary to call in sick for work the following Tuesday.

No one knows why Tuesday was involved…

Some teachers prepare people for the future.

Mike gives them stories they’ll have to explain on Monday.

Some singers provide the soundtrack for your evening.

Mike provides the alibi.

🎸 THE DIRTY TRUTH: STEVE

A Completely Unreliable History

By day, Steve works as an X-ray technologist, using advanced medical equipment to see what is happening beneath the surface.

By night, he uses guitars and synchronized lighting to make sure nobody can see anything at all.

Steve is essentially Caine from Kung Fu: quiet, calm and apparently in possession of knowledge he has no intention of sharing.

He rarely speaks.

When he does, everyone must decide whether they just heard a joke, a warning or an ancient prophecy.

Steve once remained completely silent through an entire band rehearsal, packed up his equipment and said:

“The owl knows.”

No owl had been discussed…

Steve first became interested in live music after discovering that a guitar allowed him to communicate with other human beings without having to participate in a conversation.

Eventually, controlling the guitar was no longer enough.

He needed command of the atmosphere itself.

So Steve built The Dirty Vandals’ synchronized light show, programming every flash, blackout and burst of color with the patience of a mystic and the precision of a man accustomed to positioning people beneath radiation equipment.

He once fixed a malfunctioning light by standing near it and appearing disappointed.

It has worked perfectly ever since.

Some guitarists chase the spotlight.

Steve built the spotlight, programmed it to the music and quietly stepped just outside of it.

🎸 THE DIRTY TRUTH: RICK

A Completely Unreliable History

By day, Rick works in project and data management, coordinating complicated systems and keeping important initiatives moving forward.

None of these abilities are used to manage The Dirty Vandals.

Rick does not organize rehearsals.

He does not coordinate schedules.

He will not be setting up a meeting to discuss next steps.

Rick is also a literal genius, although he never mentions it. This has led investigators to suspect that his day job may simply be a cover for intelligence work, international espionage or the quiet removal of people who schedule unnecessary meetings.

He routinely disappears for days without explanation, then reappears exactly when needed, fully prepared and unwilling to discuss where he has been.

He once vanished for four days and returned with a new passport, a bass cabinet and no memory of purchasing either.

Rick’s bass case also contains several compartments that cannot be opened without diplomatic clearance.

The band has stopped asking questions…

In fact, despite his professional relationship with technology, Rick is statistically the band member most likely to plug something into the wrong input and then stare at it as though the equipment has betrayed him personally.

Yet beneath the mysterious absences, questionable wiring and possible covert operations lies one undeniable truth:

Rick may be the most reliable person alive.

Some bass players stay in the pocket.

Rick secures the pocket, wipes the surveillance footage and provides a completely unverified alibi.

🥁 THE DIRTY TRUTH: JOHN

A Completely Unreliable History

By day, John is a marketing executive.

By night, he is still a marketing executive—only now there are drums, synchronized lights and significantly more yelling.

John became the drummer because every band needs someone sitting quietly in the back and staying out of everyone else’s business.

This remains one of the greatest misunderstandings in modern music.

John approaches every performance with the calm, relaxed attitude of a military commander preparing to invade a country that has already surrendered.

There are plans.

There are backup plans.

There are contingency plans for the backup plans.

His body is believed to be 63 percent machine, 21 percent marketing strategy and 16 percent unresolved concerns about several songs in the show.

Ask John one small question and you may receive a mission statement, a five-stage implementation plan and several historical examples supporting his position.

And somewhere, there is probably a spreadsheet explaining why your suggestion will not work…

John has never said, “Good enough.”

Both linguists and scholars believe he may be physically incapable of producing the phrase.

Some drummers keep the beat.

John keeps the beat, builds the brand, sings the impossible notes and has already prepared several recommendations for improving this biography.
